Sarah Margaine

Sarah Margaine

Sarah Margaine was born in Narbonne in 1990 in a family of musicians. At the young age of 3 she started violin, but she finally decided on playing the piano, taking lessons at the music school in her home town. She then entered the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Perpignan and studied with François-Michel Rignol and Denis Pascal until she graduated with highest honors in 2002.

She followed her studies at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional of Boulogne where she graduated with highest honors in 2007 Marie-Paule Siruguet’s class. After a «cycle de perfectionnement» course at the Conservatory in Paris-Boulogne Billancourt with Hortense Cartier-Bresson and after receiving her literary baccalaureate, Sarah entered at the age of 19 the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse in Michel Béroff’s and Marie-Joseph Jude’s class. In 2011, she started studying with Roger Muraro and Isabelle Dubuis.

She expanded her education by benefiting from the Erasmus program, leading her to the Universität der Kunst in Berlin in Jacques Rouvier’s class during the years 2013 and 2014. In June 2015, Sarah received her Masters degree at the CNSM of Paris with highest honors.

Having been passionate about chamber music and vocal music her whole life, she started playing from a very young age with her sister Clémentine Margaine, mezzo-soprano and performed in different venues (salle Gaveau, in many festivals in France, in Berlin…). She also created a duo with flutist Samuel Bricault who helped her discover new horizons, with a different type of repertoire, and different styles, from popular music to contemporary music (Indian and irish music, generative improvisation).

A new piano quintet with Clémentine Margaine has been created in 2017, playing repertoire for this formation as well as arrangements of popular music (Tangos, songs…).

Always following her passion for vocal music, Sarah participated in many projects such as an arrangement of Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni for trio et singers as well as the «Petite messe solennelle» of Rossini in piano and choir version.

She has been studying since September 2015 in the vocal accompagnement class of Claude Collet at the CRR of the XIIIth arrondissement.

In order to continue to develop her solo career, Sarah has newly been received at the CNSM of Paris in the Post-gratuate class of «cycle de perfectionnement» (Diplôme d’Artiste Interprète).

Sarah is a 2016 laureate of the Fondation Banque Populaire.
